The role of a holistic health coach.

It’s occurred to me that not many people know what the ‘holistic health coach’ title means. Or how it differs from Nutritionists + doctors +  therapists. There are major differences and things you may want to know before partnering with a health coach :)

A health coach is not here to diagnose or prescribe. Our role is to guide, educate and support you in making effective lifestyle changes that bring you closer to your healthiest + happiness self!

Do’s:

  • Lifestyle Guidance: Help build daily routines that support your energy, sleep, movement, stress resilience and overall vitality. This ranges from creating a relaxing nighttime routine to learning how to set boundaries around your time.

  • Nutrition Education: Share knowledge about balanced meals, blood-sugar friendly eating, hydration and foods that naturally support your wellbeing. We can suggest meals or food swaps that help you feel your best. Help you listen to your body and build a nourishing relationship with food.

  • Supplement Education: We provide general education on herbs, teas and supplements that might be beneficial for your health goals.

  • Advocacy and Support: Change takes time and that’s where a HHC can make a difference. Helping you set realistic goals, track progress, troubleshoot challenges and celebrate wins.

Dont’s

  • We DONT diagnose medical conditions.

  • We DONT prescribe medications.

  • We DONT prescribe or direct diets.

  • We DONT replace therapy.

True wellness is about collaboration—not replacing your healthcare team!

How health coaches are different from doctors + nutritionists + therapists?

Doctors are trained to diagnose, run lab tests, treat illness and prescribe medication. Focusing on medical conditions and immediate health concerns. While they provide medical treatment, they usually don’t have the time to walk you through day to day lifestyle changes that support your long term health. Thats where a coach can step in and advocate for your needs, helping you feel confident in your care.

Registered dietitians + nutritionists can prescribe structured diets, create medical nutrition therapy and manage conditions like diabetes, celiac or kidney issues. Mapping out exactly what to eat if you need a specific plan. A health coach can help you understand nutrition basics, suggest balanced meal ideas, and guide you in creating a sustainable relationship with food,

Therapists + psychologists focus on mental health. Helping you process trauma, manage anxiety and depression, navigate relationships, etc. Health coaches support your lifestyle in ways that indirectly improve mental health. Like stress management, sleep hygiene and daily practices to boost resilience. While also advocating for your emotional boundaries and priorities.

From the medical advice from your doctor + the nutrition guidance you may have received + mental health support, we fill in the gaps. Educating, guiding and advocating.

Why work with a health coach?

Because health isn’t just shaped in the doctors office! It’s built in your kitchen, bedroom and daily routines. Choices you make every single day.

  • You may struggle to stay consistent even if you know what you should be doing.

  • You may feel overwhelmed by conflicting wellness advice.

  • Crave someone who will listen, support and advocate for you as you navigate your health journey.

Working together alongside professional testing/diagnoses to help create small but meaningful changes.
